Credit, matching and discounts are different

Promotional credit is not the same thing as a reduction in every invoice. It may cover only eligible products or usage during a defined period. A deposit, a payment-method verification and promotional credit are also different: check what you are being charged and what balance is actually available.

Check qualification first

Read the official offer for account eligibility, payment-method requirements, supported products and any restrictions on combining promotions. A valid code on a public page does not prove that an existing account qualifies. Requirements vary between providers and between offers from the same provider.

Understand expiry and normal charges

Check when the credit becomes usable, its expiration terms and what happens when it runs out. Review the normal charges for the resources you plan to create, including storage and other separately billed services where applicable. Set your own usage limits or alerts using the provider's available controls; a promotional balance is not itself a spending cap.

Confirm the account balance

Before deploying resources, confirm the credit and its restrictions in the provider's account or billing interface. A copied code, a successful signup or a payment-method check is not proof that the expected credit was applied. Ask the provider if the balance or conditions differ from the official offer.

What Hey Codes can check

Hey Codes lists public information and links to official sources. It does not create a cloud account, provision resources, monitor a provider's billing or stop charges. When a source is inaccessible or its terms cannot be established, treat the offer as unverified rather than relying on an advertised credit amount.

An illustrative credit calculation

Suppose an offer grants $40 of promotional credit and eligible usage costs $10 per month. The credit could cover four months of that usage only if the offer's dates, eligible products and account rules allow it. If the credit expires sooner, the unused balance may not cover later usage. These numbers illustrate the calculation and are not a current Vultr quote or a spending limit.

A deposit-match offer is different: you may need to make an eligible payment before promotional credit appears. Confirm what you are paying, what bonus is granted and when each balance expires. Do not infer those terms from an advertised amount alone.

Before deploying a resource

  1. Verify that the provider actually granted the expected balance.
  2. Read which resources and charges it can cover, and its expiry date.
  3. Compare normal charges after the credit runs out, including separately billed services where applicable.
  4. Set available usage alerts or limits, then keep checking billing. Hey Codes cannot stop provider charges.
